Whaanau Services

Whaanau Ora

Whaanau Ora inclusively provides services and opportunities to whaanau across Aotearoa. The Whaanui Ngaa Aratika (guiding principles and values) encompasses the Whaanau Ora kaupapa across all services. The Kaaiarahi collaborate with other Whaanui staff to meet the aspirations and outcomes of whaanau. Waahi Whaanui is now part of the reformed Waikato Tainui Whaanau Ora Collective, with the lead provider Raukura Hauora o Tainui, delivering Kaiarahi services in the Hauraki Waikato Region. Whaanau Ora is a cultrally based, and Whaanau-centered approach to wellbeing focused on whaanau (family group) as a whole, as the decisionmakers who determine their goals and aspirations. Building on the strengths and capabilities of whaanau and wrapping the necessary services and support around them to get better outcomes and create positive changes. In areas such as health, education, housing, employment, improved standards of living and cultural identity. Whaanau are supported to fully realise the confidence, mana and the belief in self, whaanau and hapori. shifting the focus from ‘services for individuals’ to ‘wrapping services around whaanau’ takes a more holistic view of family wellbeing. Placing whaanau at the centre allows those who are often overwhelmed or disempowered to determine what success is to them - encouraging them to develop their own solutions and build their capacity and resilience to become self-managing. Whaanau often have complex needs. Specialist Navigators assist them in accessing integrated care and support.
